We decided to get some fresh air after a week of the flu so we left our little sanitarium and headed out for the zoo. We got there at 3:30 only to find out they close at 4:00 now because they are preparing for Zoolights. Well we ended up staying until 5:00 anyway and we were almost the last to leave. It was beautiful, quiet and most of all... cool. Nice.
Here is a darling picture I took of a mommy and baby inside the monkey forest. Is that the sweetest little face or what?
Here's another cute little monkey baby and his mommy. He has a cute face too (even with pretzel goo on his chin).
It was nice to leave the dishes, laundry, and sewing behind and get a change of scenery.
One thing I've been wondering is why do they call it a "sanitarium" when you know it's teeming with germs?? Hmmm....
My friend Kelli made this for me! It's me (after some serious liposuction) trying to decide which fabric to use (if she only knew how much time I spend looking at my fabric going "hmmmm......") while getting ready to whisk up something amazing. Hehe.
I really like the green capris and I actually have some shoes that resemble these! Fun! Thanks Kelli!!
I've had this darling little box of goodies for as long as I can remember. I'm not sure if it was originally a box for cards or a box for soap but it contains both. It was in with my great-grandmother's little treasures that we inherited when she died. I believe it actually belonged to my grandmother first but she died at age 27 (breaking my great-grandmother's heart) and in time it passed to my mom and then to me (my mom is alive and well by the way, whew!). I open it up occasionally and play with the cards that have moving parts (the bride gliding down the staircase is my favorite). What I really want to do is find a way to display them. A shadow box perhaps, or something like that.
Aren't they so cute?!
I even have all the envelopes!
This one is my favorite.
But this one is really cute too!
I'm looking for a creative (and high-up-on-the-wall, childproof) way to display them. Any inspiration is appreciated!
Oh, and here's the soap! Fun!

I mean my dad's name is John so why not just tack on an "a" or an "na"? My mom still defends her decision ("It was less complicated that way") after all these years. My sisters Jill and Jennie both have double consonants in their names but my consonant stands alone (maybe they weren't just teasing when they said I was adopted, and maybe the whole name spelling thing is a subtle clue?). So anyway, that's how my name is pronounced. I'm off to find my birth certificate and give it a thorough look-see now.
It gets more exciting after this.
I hope.
