Something for a wee lass

My dear friend Erica just had a little girl (her 5th!) two days ago .  I've been waiting and wanting to call but didn't want to be another "have you had the baby yet?" phone call (hate those!).  So as soon as I got the email that her oldest daughter sent out to everyone, I ran to my sewing room to figure out what to send.  Erica is Irish and when I say that, I mean she's from Ireland (not just one of those people wearing a "Kiss me!  I'm Irish!" t-shirt.  You know who you are.).  So of course I picked something green.  I used the newborn size on the pattern and then made it even smaller.  It still seemed a little big but I wanted little Michaela to have something to wear on St. Patrick's Day (which is Monday!).

Isn't it cute?!  I love the little panties and she'll be a bonnie lass in it!  I also made some burp rags to go with it but didn't have time for pictures since I stuffed everything in a priority box and got to the post office 2 minutes before closing.  It's going all the way to Virginia so I'm crossing my fingers that it gets there on time.

I had a real nice treat today when that darling UPS guy showed up again (love him!) and dropped off another box of Sandi Henderson's Ginger Blossom fabric.  I was totally not expecting it and have just been grateful I got the first shipment since I didn't think I'd get any at all.  They are just gorgeous and I've already got them listed in my etsy store.

I got this picture taken before trouble showed up.

Get the heck off my fabric!

He had already tried to take a crayon to them as soon as I opened the plastic wrap on the bolts.  He totally knows what he's doing so don't think it was one of those cute things babies happen to do.  Apparently he likes the flannel best (who can blame him?).

Now he's trying to get all dramatic on me.   Seriously, go away.

He just bit his brother on the top of the head (how do you do that?).  Around here that's code behavior for "I need a nap right away".    Things are quiet now.  Ahhhhhh.

Here's something fun I noticed.  Look real close at the petals on the Ginger Tile print (I love these colors together!).  Now look at the pink fabric next to it.  The petals have the same pattern in them!  Brilliant!  Do you think Sandi knows?  I should email her!

She's a genius I tell ya!

Oh, and I'm thinking of listing 1/2 yard combo packs (1/2 yard each of 2 coordinating fabrics together).  What do you think?

Slow day at work for me, so I'm reading my favorite blogs! The little dress is darling - hope it makes it to the wee one in time for St. Patty's.

I checked out your etsy store and was tickled to see that you are in Az. We're practically neighbors! I enjoy your blog tremendously - you have a keen sense of color and it's all put together so nicely. You inspire me!

Hi Jona. I'm not sure how I found you but I'm glad I did. What an adorable little dress! I can't believe you are able to make a dress that quickly. My intentions are good but by the time I get most of my gifts done, the child is 2!! LOL

I had no idea.. ;) Actually I think you are the first person to notice! Good eye Jona. :)

Sandi

I love all the pretty colors in Sandi's fabric. I'll have to get my hands on some Ginger Blossom to work on.

The little dress and bloomers are adorable too.

Have a great weekend!

That is a dear little dress.

Precious dress! Is that a pattern of yours to purchase? Jan

Oh my how cute is that dress!! I wish I had someone little to make it for. Good choice of fabric!! Loving all your new fabrics too. I have to restrain myself right now, but I may be back for some!

Jona,
Great pics of your little one. Makes me want the fabric all the more knowing its been "loved on" by darling boy. Hey, I think the 1/2 yard idea is brilliant. I'd really love 1 yard combos so I can make some little dresses or skirts. Heidi S.

O' the Irish eyes are smilin looking at that cute dress. The pictures of boy and fabric our great, reminds me of my son getin in the bolts . It is definitely something about the bolt packaging. I think your 1/2 yard idea is a great one and would work for me.

cute dress! :) LOVE the new fabric.. on my way to your etsy shop to get some now!! :)
Michelle

The outfit is so cute. I am using Sandi's fabric, too. And everyone loves it. My Etsy store has been pretty busy.

OK, the matching flowers/petals are SUPER awesome. Go Sandi & go you, J, for noticing. Now I HAVE to make something with that fabric combo. Lol! Yes, yes, 1/2 & 1/2 idea sounds good. Do it, do it, do it - YAY! (Was that "cheerleader-y enough for ya'?)

Kudos on the super sweet newborn dress. It's darling (and incidentally, the same fabric combo I have sitting in by etsy cart from fabritopia, waiting until Friday -$$$- to purchase).

Love the dress. Love the UPS man, too. I'm waiting on a package myself. But alas, it's not bolts and bolts. Just a yard or two. Sigh...

yes, some half yard packs would be marvelous....even quarter yard packs.....for some cute patchwork skirts.......everyone sells yardage for min. cuts of one yard, and some of us like it in smaller increments. :)) Just a thought~

If I had been there, I would have been all over those bolts of fabric too!!! Yum!

OMGosh! I have that pattern! It was one of my favorites! ;-) Love it done with Sandi's new fabric!

Seriously, can you PLEASE start selling those cute little dresses. I want to be the most popular guest at any given baby shower and the envied new baby gift giver. I can sew and I am not starting. If I bring a sewing machine in this house my husband will flip. He is already trying to build me a studio, but I like being in the house. It make me feel apart of the family. Even if I am in the back behind a half wall. I can still hear the TV. What are you trying to do to me Jona. LOL!

Wow!!! I am a fabric addict and I swear, seeing your new Michael Miller fabrics just make me want to go for broke! I have a website, www.babycoverz.com, but I just can't bring myself to make clothes. You have a great eye for design. Love your stuff!!!!!

LOL!~~~I used to have to deal with a toddler--11 years ago! But now I deal with a curious cat and dog!~~Those fabrics are wonderful!~~~XXOO, Beth
